Cliff Slade and the Slade family has made a huge name for themselves in the Virginia growing industry. As a third generational farmer Cliff still farms on the land his father did. On 515 Acres he has 29 acres of certified organic land, as well as conventional fields, and wooded acres. On the organic fields they grow sweet potatoes, elephant garlic, heirloom tomatoes, transplants, and slips. They are looking forward to experimenting with a variety of mushrooms this year. Slade Farms sells their produce in an online store, to seed companies, wholesale, as well at farmer’s markets. Along with produce the farm also grows conventional wheat and soy as well as hemp to make CBD products. CBD pre-rolls, oils, and flower are all available for purchase online. Cliff Slade has worked for Virginia State and Virginia Tech Universities helping farmers across the state. He is now retired and passing his passion along to the next generations as his granddaughter gears up for her next growing season as well. They invite all visitors and says their farm motto is “Come see us. The farm gate hangs on welcome hinges.”
